Schmobin Auth

Shared sign-in for Schmobin’s game applications.

A shared sign-in service for Schmobin’s game applications, separating account verification from individual games.

Our role

Identity integration, authentication services, and access boundaries

Built for

Schmobin players, administrators, and application teams

The problem

Shared identity as the platform grows.

As Schmobin grew into a family of applications, identity became a shared concern. Schmobin Auth provides a centralized sign-in boundary and a consistent account flow. The design separates credential verification from individual game applications and checks session validity after account changes.

The challenge

Provide a consistent sign-in experience across a growing family of game applications.

Our contribution

What we built.

  • Centralized OAuth2 and PKCE sign-in flows.
  • Separation of credential verification from game application concerns.
  • Credential versioning used during subsequent session validity checks.
  • Operational controls for maintaining authentication availability.
Engineering decisions

The thinking behind it.

Centralized identity separates sign-in concerns from individual games. Credential versioning allows session validity to be checked after account changes.

A shared identity service avoids rebuilding sign-in independently for each game. The trade-off is a shared operational dependency. Separating authentication from game-specific concerns lets the applications reuse access flows while the identity service is maintained as its own responsibility.

The result

A consistent identity layer across a growing application family.
